С Робертом Эли Фитусси, известным всему миру под сценическим именем F.R. David, мы встретились за кулисами международного музыкального фестиваля «Легенды Ретро FM» в Санкт-Петербурге 29 ноября. Сегодня, в день рождения артиста, публикуем запись этого небольшого интервью.
— Do you live in Paris?
— Yes.
— Can you tell us about your places in Paris, your favorite places? Maybe a restaurant, a place to visit?
— To tell you the truth, I don’t go to restaurants in Paris because now, you know, it`s more Hollywood food than a real French food. I like to go to small places where they serve something simple, not crème and this and meat and all this, you know, I like simple things. And right now, you know, I spend most of my time in Spain. Because I am a Parisian, I spent too much time in Paris, but now I don`t recognize Paris, it`s a new Paris, and it`s not exactly my place. Everything changes. That’s life.
— Can you tell us about your family, your wife, your children? How are they?
— My beautiful wife, she is a good wife, I have great children, and I am happy, I am happy man, because everything goes around, and that`s how I like it.
— Your son is 40 years old, I see…
— More than this. We do sport, we do everything, we don`t seat in front of the TV and drink, and eat something appetizing. That`s not our type, we love to move.
— Do you remember the very first time when you visited Russia? What year was it?
— I think it was 1997. And in 1997 that was my first time in Moscow and I arrived and I saw different cars, different dresses, women dressed differently, and I loved it because I don`t like uniformity. If you are Russian you dress certain way, if you are French you dress certain way, if you are English you dress certain way, and I love this, I love variety of dressing.
— It was Moscow, yes?
— Yes, it was really nice, it was in a way to progress, you know, in the street and everywhere, I liked it the whole way.
— Can you tell us about your concerts? Maybe the towns you are going to perform next year or 2026?
— If I have the strength to go further, you know, I much prefer to play with my musicians, because there is a risk, and I love it. I always did that. And every night every concert is different because the musicians don`t sound the same, it`s differently, and I love to do it this way, I prefer it.
— We were at your concert last year in Dusseldorf, it was Disco festival in January, you had a live set there and it was perfect!
— Thank you! But we had a really hard time because an artist that I like very much, Nick Kershaw, was doing his sound check too long, so when I and my musicians arrived we had short time for the sound check, but it was best of, in Dusseldorf.
— Can we wait some your new songs?
— Yes, I have some new songs, and you can find them on YouTube, but not on the radio, because the radio wants to play what everybody plays, you know. For example, the Big FM in France, they play new kind of music, and I understand, it`s normal. When I came it was new and before that — accordion, so you know, it`s normal, you have to change with the time, and I understand that and I respect it.
— A New Year is coming. Can you wish something to all your Russian fans for the New Year 2025?
— It`s really nice to come here because the fans still really react with sincerity and I appreciate it.
— They know all your songs! «Words», «Girl», «Pick Up the Phone»…
— Oh, yes, they can sing and I can sit down in the back and let them sing.
